Dr. Poly is a Registered Dietician, Certified Diabetes Educator and Certified Medical Exercise Specialist with over 20 years of experience in medical and community nutrition. She is a graduate of Framingham State College earning a BS in Food Science and Nutrition with a minor in Biology, and a MEd in Nutrition Education and a PhD in Medical Nutrition Sciences at Boston University, School of Medicine, and received the Julie Award for her research on Choline Intake and Alzheimer’s Disease. Her manuscript has just been approved for publication by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition for her research on Choline’s role in Cognitive improvement and Brain Health. Her clinical experience includes Beth Israel-Deaconess outpatient obesity clinic, inpatient clinical dietician at various extended care centers across Massachusetts including Metrowest Medical Center, Braintree Rehab and Mass Respiratory Care. She also worked with the Neurology group at the Framingham Heart Study on dementia research.
Dr Poly is currently a private medical practitioner and nutrition consultant. She is the creator of Dieticians of New England http://donediet.org promoting accurate and reliable nutrition information and education for the adult and older adult populations. She is additionally an Assistant professor at Framingham State University, and the primary author of “Diet and Dining Manual for Extended Care in a Culture Change Environment” – now in its 3rd edition- which has been adapted in multiple facilities across New England, and is becoming nationally recognized.
Her community experience includes teaching nutrition classes on subjects that include: Stabilizing Blood Sugars in Diabetes; Heart Health; Eating Well While Dining Out; and Healthy Cooking Tips. She has worked tirelessly on developing healthier menus and enhanced nutritional services for surrounding communities. Dr Poly has a strong background in Diabetes, Cardiac Health and Older Adult Nutrition.
