Events

Grandparents’ Day (September 12) was a smash hit at the Thomas Upham House.Approximately 200 people showed up for the event that was held at Baker’s Pond, from grandparents to parents to children and grand (and the occasional great-grand) children. Most of our residents showed up and were very, very content with the goings-on.They were also delighted to see family members.

Although the weather looked threatening, the rain held off and we even got enough sun and warmth to satisfy everyone.

The food was fantastic – chowder, ribs, shrimp kebobs, hot dogs and burgers, pasta and potato salad, corn on the cob, marinated vegetables…and those wonderful, to-die-for desserts! There truly was something for every person, and everyone was pleased with the delicious assortment.

We also had some fantastic events – DJ Mike Terrara, who played a great mix of songs from a variety of eras, Blinkee the Clown, who made awesome balloon animals for the kids, face painting by Marsha Driscoll, the 4-H Club with their animals, a Bouncy room, crafts, and tons of sports games.

Many thanks to everyone who turned up – staff, residents, and families alike – and made this day special.  We hope to see you again next year!
